Keeping animals inside a plastic sealed bag containing a liquid with nutrient and oxygen that allows them to live up to 2 months?! Its new, its unique and it sells! This only happens in a capitalist world where the exploitative system forces the individual to see no value in anyone or anything except as means to making a profit for himself. In Islam, mistreating an animal is considered a sin. The Quran describes that animals form communities, just as humans do: There is not an animal that lives on the earth, nor a being that flies on its wings, but they form communities like you. Nothing have we omitted from the Book, and they all shall be gathered to their Lord in the end (Quran 6:38). Whilst in the Capitalist world, leaders permit animal cruelty in the name of maximising profit, we can reflect on the leaders of the past in our Islamic history to see exactly how animals were treated. In medieval times, historian Gustave le Bon writes, animals enjoyed a ‘paradise’ in the Muslim world. Trusts were solely devoted to sick and vulnerable creatures. In eighteenth century Cairo, Muslims set up bread and water foundations for dogs.
