Capt Richard C Yeend, Jr Born: Oct. 11, 1938 Mobile, Alabama Died: Jun. 9, 1968 died in Vietnam Captain Yeend was member of the 37th Air and Rescue Squadron. On June 9, 1968 he was the pilot of a Sokorsky Sea King Search and Rescue Helicopter on a rescue mission near Thua Thien 22 miles northwest of Shau Valley in Laos when his helicopter was shot down. His remains were not recovered until February 14, 2003 and were identified on September 12, 2003 He is buried in Mobile National Cemetery in Mobile, Alabama
