Carbon pollution not only threatens human health, it disrupts the climate making extreme weather worse. And without national carbon pollution standards in place, dirty power plants continue to dump an unlimited amount of carbon pollution into the air. Power plants are the largest source of carbon pollution in the U.S., accounting for roughly one-third of all domestic greenhouse gas emissions, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). But its time we regulate the amount of carbon pollution and support the new clean power plan proposed by the EPA. The EPAs commonsense plan would cut carbon pollution from power plants depending on each states sources and opportunities in cutting pollution. The proposal would maintain an affordable and reliable energy system, while cutting pollution and protecting [the] health and environment now and for future generations. As American citizens, we need the federal government to establish carbon pollution protections as a means of cleaning up and modernizing the U.S. Its time we reduce power plants carbon pollution and transition to clean energy sources. And supporting the EPAs safeguards will fight climate disruption and create a healthier future. Act now: Tell the EPA we need a stronger carbon rule to stabilize the climate. - See more at: bullhorn.nationofchange.org/end_carbon_pollution#sthash.Duw3Dnut.dpuf
