Care to give this gal any feedback? I know Yachats has long been quite active in welcoming these monks on their fund-raising tour - so consider yourselves alerted to opportunity! Dear Dharma Friends; Early this summer, we on the Oregon Coast have the opportunity to welcome a group of monks from the Gaden Shartse Norling Monastery in Mundgod, Karnataka, India. This monastery practices in the Gelug tradition, the Dalai Lamas own lineage. Six monks are touring the United States for several months to raise money for their educational and monastic actities. Their U.S. tour is being organized by the Gaden Shartse Cultural Foundation of Long Beach, California, online at: gadenshartseculturalfoundation.org/. They would like to come to the Oregon Coast for the week of June 23-29 and offer public activities in locations between Tillamook and Yachats. The monks would offer: * - a 90 minute performance with Tibetan music and lamas dancing in full costume with a slide show about the monastery * - Lectures and teachings on the Dharma * - Healing rituals * - Astrological readings for individuals and couples * - Blessing ceremonies for homes and businesses The potential visit of the Gaden Shartse monks to the Oregon Coast would be organized by Yeshe Nyingpo Newport. Whether we can welcome them depends on how much support there is in the community for such a visit. We have already received the donation of a home where they can stay during that week. We still need donations for rental of facilities and volunteers to provide food and tea. Most of all, we need to know if the Oregon Coast Dharma community is interested in attending these performances and teachings, healings and blessings. Please reply to this email with a short message indicating your interest. For more information contact: Sunny Lewis, 541-614-0152
