I say it a lot, but the band and I REALLY appreciate our fans. We are an independent group. For those of you who dont know what that means, it means we dont have a manager or label by choice. At ACM, they taught us that you pursue music for one of three reasons, Fame, Freedom, or Fortune. Between Sleep and Awake plays music for freedom. Freedom to create, publish, and govern our music. Freedom to say, wear, and play where/what/when we want. We dont have due dates to have songs ready and we arent forced to go in the studio when we arent prepared. What this means for you, is that you will get quality work. We will NEVER enter the studio until we are fully prepared and we think the music is the best that it can be. Unfortunately, this also has some downsides. We dont have a manager to hire promoters and financial advisers, to get our name out there super fast. Meaning, we have to do EVERYTHING ourselves. Some people just dont seem to get this, but the music industry is one of the hardest jobs in the world. Without a label, we have to take on the industry entirely alone. I just had to politely decline our first label(my third) offer. That is a really hard thing to do. When you decline a label, you decline a quick trip to the top. We would be recording in all sorts of huge studios and touring within the next few months. Our name would be plastered annoyingly every place it can be. Our CD would be rushed and released within the next month or so. This is not our path. So when we say we appreciate our fans, we mean we appreciate EVERY SINGLE ONE of you wonderful people. We try our absolute best to EARN you. We will feel this way during the entire journey. You are our employers. You are the difference between spending our lives doing what we love and sitting behind a desk. So please, please support local music. I dont mean just us, and I dont mean just independent artists. Its sad that fans dont realize who they are in the grand scheme of the music industry. You ARE the music industry, and you are the ones who deserve the credit. We are just here to beg you for a chance at doing something we love and making a living doing it. I speak for all three of us in Between Sleep and Awake when I say this, Thank you. I hope you continue to enjoy our music, we LOVE making it. Please help us get the job of our dreams.
