Carnlough parade decision disappointing - McMullan Sinn Féin MLA Oliver McMullan has said that he is disappointed that the Parades Commission has failed to listen to the residents of Carnlough over the proposed 12th of July parade. Mr. McMullan said, “I have been calling for months for dialogue between the Loyal Orders and local residents in order to find an accommodation over the forthcoming Twelfth parade. “I am therefore deeply disappointed that the Loyal Orders have been rewarded with a parade without any restrictions without talking to anyone, the residents, PSNI or the Parade Commission. “The local residents are obviously very upset at the prospect of a major parade being imposed on their village for an entire day without any restrictions whatsoever resulting on many becoming prisoners in their own home. “I will now be meeting with local residents to see what can be done in order to lessen the impact of this parade on the local community and look at avenues of appeal to the Parades Commission.”
