Carols response to the lip chain discussion: No, one evil is - TopicsExpress

Carols response to the lip chain discussion: No, one evil is actually no worse than another, but we are doing so many things wrong today that we must remember the old saying, two wrongs dont make a right. Unfortunately the hands and legs of our riders are definitely being used improperly on our horses sensitive sides, mouths and gums during our many different disciplines. Our Associations lack of education and enforcement of rules have permitted their members and trainers to use their own questionable methods to achieve their horses performances, therefore our entire breed of gentle American Quarter Horses have for some time been showcased as extremely difficult horses to train and exhibit. I know this breed, like others, has good ones and bad ones, but today I actually know that the mistakes I have made in the past with them were mostly due to my ignorance, poor company and lack of patience at the time. Now Im only trying to help others better understand that there is an art in training, judging and showing. Education is a simple solution to all of our problems if we can acquire the right people to provide this. AQHA Leadership must be responsible for this to happen. Our present day problems seem to be getting worse rather than better. Unfortunately we still have some brilliant horsemen and members, but very few of them today are enjoying what they have to watch and compete with at our horse shows. Our Associations leadership seems totally unaware of the problems they have permitted to develop and grow. We remain in danger of losing more members. THE PROTECT THEM COALITION is a desperate attempt by the membership to correct the direction in which we are traveling.
