Carrick Callout: Day 4 Another day over and sadly without a positive result. Once again a massive shared effort between us, the Killybegs Coast Guard, the Gardai and the local volunteers. Upwards on 100 personnel were involved. Today a pointed effort was made to use people with the local knowledge of their own area with outside Rescue personnel. Once again 118 was in the air and local scuba divers searched the deeper pools. Ground searches of the whole coast were conducted from Port to Drimanoo Head as well as the south westerly end of St.Johns Point. The river from Carrick to Teelin was thoroughly searched again today as well as three forest plantations in the area. Many people stayed on in the local hall after darkness descended to listen to Sergeant Tony Arnold, DMRT’s Francis John Cunningham and Shane McCrudden of Killybegs Coast Guard give a debrief on the day’s events and outline a plan for tomorrow. All interested in helping tomorrow please come to Carrick Hall for 09:30 in the morning where you will be tasked to search an area. Repetition is vital, particularly along the coast and rivers. Vital. Please SHARE this post. Once again much gratitude to the ladies who continue to provide us with hot soup, tea, coffee and sandwiches all day. A steady stream of locals arriving with home bakes etc A special mention to Gallaghers Bakery, Ardara, who very kindly donated several dozen loafs of bread and trays of buns and scones.
