Casey Cleveland sings O Holy Night on December 24, 2014 at Shepherds Community UMC (Lakeland, FL). This is a miracle because on April 9, 2014, at age 40, he had a massive stroke. The brain surgeon said that he might not survive the surgery and if he did it paralysis from the neck down was likely. His survival was miraculous. But as Casey recovered severe speech aphasia became evident, and while we celebrated his incredible recovery, many people thought Casey would never be able to sing more than short repetitive choruses. In addition to the aphasia, Casey also has vision problems that make it difficult to read lyrics. So when he stepped-up to the microphone and started singing this song, there was not a dry eye in the sanctuary. Casey is not thrilled about this performance because there are some places where he loses his words. We thought about editing out these parts, but intentionally decided against it for at least two reasons. First, it shows how hard Casey had to work to be able to sing any of this song! He worked for months practicing with his dedicated wife, Cindy. Why is this important? Because his positive attitude and determination in recovery is driven by his rock solid faith that God is going to heal him further and use this experience to bring people closer to God. Casey’s faith in God’s power and love for Jesus didnt allow him to give up! Second, it shows not only how much God has done in Caseys life, but how much more He will do! Casey is sure that God is not done with him yet, and this video, with all of its imperfections, will soon be evidence of even more healing in Casey’s life. This video highlights the man of God that is not only my worship leader, but my dear friend. All praise to God! scumc.net (c) December 24, 2014 https://youtube/watch?v=5Pc__o8rr5s&feature=youtu.be
