Caste like Hierarchy in the labour force in India (as per one NDTV panelist) in “dialogue”: (Isnt he correct in his observation?) ------------------------------------------------- Brahmanistic: Government and public sector employees. (Well protected by labour laws (Manusmriti) and union leaders (Purohit) performing regular ‘Yagna’ in the form of bi or tripartite agreement and collecting their hepty ‘Dakhsina’.) Upper cast: Employees of all big and medium size companies in private sectors. Employees of white collar jobs in cities and towns. (Reasonably taken care by labour laws (Manusmriti) and can perform their individual worship and sometime ‘Yagna’ ) OBC: Employees in all small shops and offices, contract labours in companies. Labour force in variety of jobs in cities and towns. (No effective labour laws for them but they can perform their individual ‘puja’ to please their deities in their own way.) BACKWARD AND DALIT: Agricultural labours, house hold helpers, daily wage temporary workers, construction labours, child labours etc. (They are like untouchables and ’Mlechchhas’ and are not permitted to even listen to sacred ‘Mantras’ of labour laws) ------------------------------------------------- Any labour reform in India so far has remained confined to upper two levels only and nothing effective has been thought for the unorganized ‘OBC’ and ‘Dalit’ section of labours ???
