*Casting Call* *Casting Call* *Casting Call* We are now seeking to cast a variety of roles for our forthcoming short film, “The State of the Party”, based on the story by Irvine Welsh. Please note that participation is unpaid, but we are launching a fundraising campaign as we intend to keep people fed and watered on set and pay reasonable travel expenses to avoid anybody being out of pocket. The completed film will be entered into film festivals and it is also hoped that we can negotiate a distribution deal. • Calum and Crooky – 2 males, with playing ages of 25-35 • Gillian and Michelle – 2 females with playing ages of 25-35 • Boaby Preston – male with playing age of 25-38 • The Raven (drug dealer) – male with playing age of 30-40 • Chizzie – male with playing age of 25-40 • Omelette – male with playing age of 25-35 • Geggsie – male with playing age of 25-40 • Tramp – male with playing age of 40 or over • Salesman – male with playing age of 25-40 • Football Casuals – 4 males with playing age of 18-34 • Speaking extras – 5 males with playing age of 20-40 This list may or may not be complete, but it’s getting late, I have an early rise tomorrow and need to get this posted quickly. Apologies to the ladies for the lack of female roles, but we’re trying to keep to Irvine’s original story as much as possible. However, even if you don’t fit into the age bracket above and are interested, please do still get in touch, as we will require some females for background artistes in some scenes. Casting will be carried out by means of informal workshops which are being held at Edinburgh College’s Sighthill Campus from 5pm to 8pm on Thursday 11th and Tuesday 16th September, with callbacks on the 18th. It’s not essential that you attend for the full 3 hours, but the longer you’re there, the better you’ll get an appreciation of our director’s style of working and he of yours. Oh, and before I forget, previous experience is NOT essential, we’re keen to discover new talented non-actors too and we don’t want to see your acting CV, showreel, Spotlight profile, etc. One other thing I should mention… if you’re familiar with Irvine’s work, you’ll know that his characters use VERY strong language, so if you’re at all uncomfortable with swearing, perhaps this isn’t the project for you? Interested in taking part? Then drop us a pm on facebook, let us know what workshop you’re planning to attend and I’ll send you more details. However, please be advised that I’m filming all day tomorrow, so won’t be able to respond to messages until tomorrow night, at the earliest. As we have a very tight timescale for completing this film, these dates may be short notice for some, but we hope to see you at one of the casting workshops.
