Catching up on the so-called news and my feathers just ruffle when I read the media pimping DFC. Detroit Future City is a state-mandated, most foundation-funded plan that will create suburban sprawl within the citys walls. I call it state-mandated since its implementation is a part of Orrs marching orders. On the surface it may be one of the least threatening of the Emergency Managers duties, but the success of corporate and foundation organized government and unchecked development in Detroit appears to be reliant upon this divide and conquer approach to neighborhood development that normalizes the displacement of poor people and an increase in police, security and surveillance.
