Celebrating John and Donna (Cooper) Morriss 50th Wedding Anniversary today! Donna grew up and was married in Scio. They will celebrate the date with a Family dinner at Giuseppe’s Italian Restaurant on N. Locust St. in Denton, TX with their daughter, Jennifer (and Jim) Meyer of Aubrey and son, David (and Karen) Morris of Corinth and their 10 grandchildren. John and Donna met on a blind date arranged by John’s sister who was Donna’s Nursing School instructor, and they were married in Scio, Ohio on March 21st, 1964. They lived in Ohio, Tennessee, Michigan and spent the last 30 years in or near Denton. John is a many-times retired Field Engineer and National Sales Manager and Donna enjoyed a long career as a nurse. While still working full-time they bought some derelict properties on N. Locust St., fixing them up themselves and starting The Heritage Inns Bed & Breakfast Group, the first B&B in Denton. After 20 years, they recently sold the Inns and retired (again) to enjoy time with family, travel, hobbies and assisting in the homeschooling of their grandchildren. They are active in the Senior Life Ministry at Denton Bible Church and volunteer at Twice as Nice. Donna also enjoys the knitting for the Prayer Shawl Ministry and John loves working in his Wood Shop making furniture and refurbishing antiques.
