Celebrating Our Savior The word advent means “coming.” Over the years the church has observed Advent, the weeks before Christmas, to recognize Christ’s first coming as a baby—fully human and fully divine, sent to rescue the world from sin and certain death. Advent is also a time to look forward in eager expectation to His glorious second coming, when every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Because of His first coming, perfect life, and loving sacrifice we can live joyfully as we await His promised second coming.
