Celebrating the Masters of Imagination! American writer Clifford D. Simak died on this date in 1988. Though he wrote fiction and non-fiction alike, Simak is best known for his science fiction novels, novellas and short stories. In his lifetime, he won three Hugo Awards and one Nebula Award. Simak avoided galactic invasion/space opera themes. Rather his works were gentle, contemplative and touching explorations of man against the vastness of universal time and space. And a number of his works took place in rural Wisconsin settings; Simak having been born in Millville!
