******** CenturyLink Tenative Contract Info ******** e-mail from Stan Wylie, Local 7800 President To all of our CenturyLink Members: With the news of the tentative agreement clearly everyone has questions. I will lay out the next couple weeks here about what the District and the Local will be doing to ensure everyone has the information as soon as possible. As of this morning no details have been released to the Local other than the press releases that have gone out. I understand the Company has also sent an email out and I would simply say that the company’s notification talks about their “three principle objectives in mind:” It does not say if they achieved them or really what the outcome is so it will be best to wait and see what the agreement looks like before we make assumptions. Last night the Presidents had a very brief call with District 7. No questions were entertained for all practical purposes it was simply an announcement regarding the press release that was going to be sent and letting us know when the rest of the information would be provided to the Local’s and follow up meetings. We do know that there are a great number of changes to the contract but the details have not been shared. What we can share is bulleted below. On Friday (possibly very late) the Locals will receive an electronic copy of the summary of changes. Currently the district is working on that and will not be distributed until it has been checked for accuracy. On Saturday at 9am (PST) there will be a call to address initial concerns and discussion. The Local will open the hall at 830 am for anyone wishing to listen to the call however only the Presidents will be allowed to present questions and comments on that call. Following that call the Local will put out a summary of the call and any additional information via the communication channels we use today (email, website, Facebook, and hotline). In August we have a District Meeting scheduled from the 18th to the 21st. The day of the 21st will be solely for the purpose of the District to explain to those in attendance all of the changes (again I don’t expect this Saturdays call to be able to address everything) so the local representatives can come back and explain in detail to their respective membership. In early September we will be mailing out to all the members a hard copy of the changes along with the ballot this mailing has to be done by September 5th. We will also have in that mailing the date time and location of the full contract explanation meeting probably in the 2nd week of September that the Local will be holding. We are looking at different options at the moment but we want to wait and see what transpires this week before fully committing to the date time and location of that meeting. As of this morning all of our Stewards, AVP’s and the Local have been bombarded with questions regarding details etc… At this point we have shared everything we know. To go beyond that is simply assumptions and I hope this will help alleviate that. I understand we all want the information now but that simply can’t happen and we will do everything we can to ensure that when information is provided it is done in a way that everyone can see the same information. We appreciate your patience and again will update everyone as soon as practically possible. Stan Wylie President CWA Local 7800
