Challenge Accepted! During my last visit I drove the streets of my hometown following the paths I had come to know after the thousands of miles I had walked on them. From Lou’s Super Market to Russo’s and Florida Ave to the Big N; there wasn’t much of Amsterdam I hadn’t covered. This time I stopped and found the small hidden things that so many people just don’t see. The forest through the trees kind of thing. I’m sharing this Amsterdam photos that show one of the many buildings that you may pass every day. Bricks dirty and worn from standing tall season after season. Inside the paint peeled exterior, stairs crooked after housing many, many, many families. Proud American, help your neighbor type families. These were our families from around the world and they built Amsterdam. The flag in the window reminds me of the dreams of the people who worked so hard together and left us a damn fine city. I encourage everyone to go outside their door, look up, down, and across the street and change something you don’t like within 100 feet. A few weeds poking up in a shifted slab of sidewalk, an old newspaper caught in some lilac bushes across the street, or sweeping a missing property owners entrance stairs. It’s a simple thing with great reward. Pride! #AmsterdamNY #PrettyCityNY
