Challenge to Love Day 27: Love is CORRECTION!! None of us - TopicsExpress

Challenge to Love Day 27: Love is CORRECTION!! None of us genuinely love correction... In fact, if we were honest, most of us would actually argue and defend ourselves when someone tries to correct us. When Mike and I were about to leave for Haiti, I received one of the hardest corrections in my life from my pastor and spiritual father, Ronnie Hepperly. He told me I needed to toughen up and get thick skin. It sounded harsh, and I wanted to argue with him at first. But I knew he was right... I needed to hear that too as hard as it was because he knew that if I didnt stop listening to what other people were saying and taking things so personally, then I would have a hard time living in Haiti and being in full-time ministry. To this day, I am so beyond grateful for this correction. It changed my outlook on life and helped me make a much-needed change. When I think about correction, I also think about my job as a mom to my daughter Aubrey. She is only 2, but she still needs correction and discipline. Its the only way she can learn what is right and what is wrong. My job as a parent is to love her always but still correct her when she does something wrong. Our father God is no different. Proverbs 3:12 says, For the Lord corrects those he loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights. Love is correction. Our father God has given us the Holy Spirit to convict us when we have messed up or fallen short. Conviction is one way God corrects us, but we must respond to His convictions with repentance and change. God also gives us the gift of discernment to guide us through life and help us live according to the will of God. I challenge each of you today to seek out a spiritual mother or father in your life, someone you can look to for advice and help but also someone who can speak into your life and correct you along the way. We all need a mentor who is honest and tells us the truth when we need to hear it. I also encourage each of you to receive correction with love and a grateful heart. Know that when correction comes from God, its for our own good and for His perfect will in our lives. Romans 8:28 assures us: And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. Gods correction is out of His unfailing and unending love for us and is ALWAYS for our best interest for and His perfect will for our lives! As far as our role in the body of Christ, when believers come to us for advice, we need to always be lead by the Holy Spirit to speak into their lives. Sometimes, we need to offer correction if we are the ones mentoring simply because we love that person and want them to experience everything God has in store for them! That is true love! Proverbs 12:1 To learn, you must love discipline; it is stupid to hate correction. Revelation 3:19 I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from your indifference. #LoveChallengeDay27 #LoveGodLovePeople #CorrectingLove
