Chamber News… Don’t forget the Retail Meeting tomorrow morning. Tuesday, August 13th, 7:30 a.m. at Burger King. We will be discussing the annual Chili Feed held in September amongst other events. I know summer is coming to a close as football and volleyball practices started today in many schools. But…what’s left of summer can still be enjoyed as several events are still happening. Chamber Happenings… Thursday, August 15: Rotary’s 47th Annual Corn and Chicken Feed in BN Park 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Tickets $8.50 advance $5.00 for kids a dollar more for both at the door. Saturday, August 17: 8th Annual Kruzin 4 Kids Bike Rally at Wadena Elks Lodge. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. Proceeds go to MN Make a Wish. Saturday, August 17: Bluffton Hometown Days. England Prairie is located at 14229 County Road 1 south and east of Wadena. Notes from members… WDC seniors organizing blood drive to help save lives Wadena-Deer Creek National Honor Society (NHS) seniors Michaela Lehmkuhl and Abby Wegscheid are organizing a blood drive, Aug. 13 from 1 to 7 pm at Wadena-Deer Creek Middle/High School. The blood drive is open to students, staff and anyone in the Wadena area. Their goal is 100 successful donors. Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are preferred. To schedule an appointment or for more information, call Michaela at 218-640-6361. The American Red Cross will have its bloodmobile on the school’s campus in the Auxiliary Gym. Please enter through the main entrance of the middle/high school. “Each donor will leave knowing that he or she has directly contributed to saving a life or lives,” Lehmkuhl said. She and Wegscheid are good friends who wanted to organize blood drive as their NHS community-service project. More than just an honor roll, Wadena-Deer Creek’s NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character.
