Chamber News Feed: Somerset County, NJ: A Delaware man working on the roof of a borough home tripped on a ladder and fell to his death, North Plainfield Police said. At about 2:38 p.m. Friday, multiple units of North Plainfield police and EMS arrived a Windsor Street residence on a report for a man who fell from the roof and is unresponsive, police said. Police were met with hysterical co-workers and siblings of the man who directed them to the rear yard, police said. Police found the man, later identified as Gaspar Ramirez-Amaya, 42, of Wilmington, Del. sprawled out on the concrete at the foot of a ladder behind the home, suffering from a devastating head wound with an large amount of blood surrounding his body, police said. A co-worker told police he was working on the front of the roof as Ramirez-Amaya was climbing the ladder to join him, police said. Ramirez- reached the top of the roof and attempted to fasten his safety harness but tripped on the top of the ladder, causing him to fall to the ground, police said. The medical examiner and Mercy Unit paramedics from JFK Medical Center in Edison arrived and pronounced Ramirez-Amaya dead at 3:05 p.m. via Dr. Samuel Lacapra of Muhlenberg Hospital, police said.
