Chanakya Daily current Affairs 14/03/2014 In Odisha, three persons were convicted while six others were acquitted by a court in Cuttack in connection with the rape of a nun in Kandhamal district during the 2008 riots. District Sessions Court Judge GyanRanjanPurohit held Mitua alias SantoshPatnaik guilty of rape. Two other accused persons GajendraDigal and SarojBahdei were convicted for outraging modesty of a woman. The court is likely to pronounce the quantum of punishment for the three convicted persons soon. Six persons were acquitted due to lack of evidence. The nun was raped at Baliguda in Kandhamal district on the August 25th, 2008.
