Charges Upgraded: On 06/19/2014, police charged Clarence Gentry, age 58, S. Third Street, for wanton endangerment after responding to a disturbance call. At approximately 5:25 A.M., officers were dispatched to a disturbance in the 400 block of Francis Street in which it was reported that a woman had been struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers found the woman lying in her yard complaining of pain in her leg. The woman advised officers that she and Gentry, identified as her boyfriend, were arguing and he had dropped her off at her residence. As she was walking through her yard, the victim reported that Gentry drove his vehicle across the sidewalk and struck her, knocking her to the ground. Gentry then fled the scene. The victim was transported to Baptist Health Richmond for treatment. The extent of her injuries was unknown as of this report. At approximately 5:30 A.M., another officer observed Gentry’s vehicle being operated on Berea Road and stopped it. It was determined that Gentry was intoxicated and he was arrested for D.U.I. Gentry was further charged for Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree and lodged in the MCDC. On 06/20/2014, after learning that the female victim had suffered a tibial plateau fracture as a result of the collision, police added the charges of Assault 2nd Degree, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and Driving with an Expired License against Gentry.
