Check it out! I actually lost my shoes at work today, for quite a long time. This is a problem I NEVER would have guessed I would EVER have but I must admit that I have had it on a number of occasions. I worked barefoot for quite a while today and I felt like I was working for Steve Jobs or Apple or for The New Republic for quite a few. One other memorable time that I lost my shoes was at a gig at The Paradise, many years ago, and they were never found. (Kristen, you might remember this, you helped me look for them) My students today were quite a bit thrown and confused and tickled by this. I had no breaks so I kept teaching barefoot. After all my teaching was done I had a minute to think it through and found them. They were right where they should have been. Right next to my organ. Of Course!!!! I had taught an organ lesson first thing today. Playing organ pedals in Doc Martens does NOT work. (right Tyler?) So the shoes came right off and then they were promptly forgotten. Ugh! Barefoot teaching…Im pretty casual for a professional, but that is a little much! Next time this happens Ill figure it out more quickly.
