Check out this brief guerrilla installation at the 1926 Wurlitzer Building at Broadway and John R during the Detroit Design Festival that ended Sunday. We think the neglect of the building is disappointing on many levels, so we set up a public art installation outside of the now-permanent scaffolding, Sara Frey tells us by email. The concept: A reimagining of the moment in which the Wurlitzer was abandoned in 1982. The goal: To draw attention to the decaying building and the people who left it behind. The sidewalk scene was dismantled at the request of a city inspector, police and the building owner, she adds.
