Check out this review one of our guests left on TripAdvisor of their recent fishing adventure! “Top location, Top people” 5 of 5 stars At the last minute we decided that a holiday was in order and what better idea then head to Nth Queensland and catch a barra. The plan was hatched and Lake Monduran was the spot. After flying in we headed up the 5 hour run from the GC to the Lake Monduran holiday park for a 1 week stay. We had arranged a Holiday House for the stay. Expecting the basic cottage (that we normally find at a fishing location) I was blown away with a nicely appointed building with pay tv of all things (hardly roughing it :-)). It was nicely located within a stroll of the office or boat ramp and had everything you could need!! (the Cabins are cool as well over looking the lake) We had hired a boat for the week from the office and were advised that at 7.30am when the office opened we would be given a briefing on its operation and then hit the water, well the next morning arrived and Rob the manager was at our door early to see if we were ready to go (must have known we were ready to hit the water) now that was service! A good chat and away we went. The lake is huge and there is a lot of water to cover and fish, somewhere new every day. Rob popped in throughout the week for a chat and make sure we were ok, offered his advice and places to head to, he topped up the gas in the boat most mornings making sure we were ready to go, nothing was a problem. We arranged him as a guide for 3 hours on Tuesday and again on Friday night. Tuesday was hard fishing, the weather was cooling and the fish were not on the bite, but Rob worked tirelessly to try and get us a barra. Friday night and after a hard week fishing with the fish not playing ball, he offered to take us to a down river stretch that could produce the goods. Now this wasnt a stroll down the road ... we had a good 5kms over paddocks and through gullys to a hidden pool with the 4 wheel drive and boat in tow. An adventure in its self!! A solid effort from Rob again lead to success and barra caught all round. We fished in to dark and watched the new moon and the fantastic Aussie bush surround ...what a way to finish a great trip (really a guide working on his Friday night?? legend) I used to guide in New Zealand and know it can be hard when the fish dont play ball, I cannot recommend enough the Lake Monduran Holiday Park and Rob as the best guide/host I have had the pleasure to deal with. Will I be back.... you bet, we are planning our return as I type this.
