Chelsea and Atletico to meet over Courtois loan agreement as Belgian keeper looks set to take part in Champions League semi-final. Chelsea are expected to meet with Atletico Madrid officials this week to resolve the issue of on-loan goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who looks certain now to play in the Champions League semi-final between the two clubs. UEFA’s recent intervention indicated Chelsea would be in breach of competition rules if they tried to enforce an £8million penalty clause that is written into Courtois’s contract should he play against them. The issue is complicated by the fact that Courtois’s representatives are in talks about a new four-year deal with Chelsea which would be signed at the end of the season, with the plan for the goalkeeper to return to Atletico for another campaign. The new contract would not have the £8m clause.
