Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho wants his side to be like Manchester City. Portuguese supremo admires title rivals City… Jose Mourinho, Chelsea’s returning manager, says his side need to be more ruthless like Manchester City, and kill off teams quickly, the Daily Mirror reports. In the Portuguese manager’s first official game back in charge, his side comfortably beat Hull City 2-0 at Stamford Bridge, thanks to goals from Eden Hazard and Frank Lampard. In truth however, the scoreline could have been far more convincing, and the 50-year-old maverick wants his side to put teams to bed faster. “What I like is that when you have the chance to destroy – to beat a team by three, four or five – we have to do it,” said Mourinho. “If someone has the chance to do it to you, they will not forgive you. They will give you nothing. If someone feels that they can do it to us, they will do it. So if we have the chance to do it, we have to do it.” Premier League rivals Manchester City on the other hand, put a hapless Newcastle side to the sword, thrashing them 4-0 in what was arguably the most impressive performance of the opening weekend. Chelsea’s boss couldn’t help but be impressed. “I watched the game and they were very good. No doubt about it. They bought fantastic players, they have a fantastic squad and they looked very, very good,” he continued. Goals from David Silva, Sergio Aguero, Samir Nasri and Yaya Toure sealed the convincing City win, and new signing Stevan Jovetic didn’t even make the match squad. “When you look at the players they didn’t have on the pitch, and some were not even on the bench, the squad is amazing. They are a fantastic team and an amazing squad.” Mourinho took over from City’s new manager Manuel Pellegrini at Real Madrid in 2010, and the pair will go head to head for the Premier League, facing competition from title holders Manchester United, and potentially even Tottenham after their hugely impressive summer in the transfer market. ~Paul~ #CFC
