Chelsea shouldnt sell Lukaku as part of Barkley deal THOUGHTS !!!! Reports from The Sun yesterday revealed that Chelsea were ready to use Romelu Lukaku as bait to sign Ross Barkley this summer. However, Jose Mourinho would be foolish to get rid of the forward in the summer market - even if it means that he can secure the services of Barkley. Lukaku - at just 21-years-old - has an extremely bright future in front of him, and could well go on to become one of the leading forwards in the game. The striker certainly resembles a young Didier Drogba - and in all honesty, hes better than Drogba was as a youngster. It took some time for Drogba to really make an impact on the European scene, and it may take a while for Lukaku to become a superstar, but Chelsea have a special player in their ranks and they cant afford to let him go. Its understandable that Mourinho is desperate to sign Barkley. After all, hes one of the most talented youngsters in Englands elite division and has been slapped with a £50 million price tag in recent time. However, the Blues should look at other ways to bring Barkley to the club. Perhaps they could send Lukaku out on loan for a third consecutive season. Three seasons out on loan may appear slightly drastic, but Chelsea have done the same thing with highly-rated goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and they could reap the rewards next season as hes become one of the top players in world football in his position. So, if Chelsea handed the Merseyside outfit Lukaku for another season, perhaps it would make life easier when targeting Barkley. Its clear for all to see that Chelsea need a world class striker in their ranks, but they must also look towards the future. In two to three years time, Lukaku could become one of the leading forwards in the Premier League and The Special One would look crazy if he wasnt donning a Chelsea shirt. It wont be easy securing the services of Barkley this summer, but if Mourinho can keep Lukaku in his ranks and add the Everton midfielder then he will be sitting pretty come the start of next season.
