Director Joe Piscatella’s account of a young student in Chicago who’s helping lead the revolution in Syria via social media is fascinating on every conceivable level. While other Arab spring uprisings have toppled totalitarian regimes with the help of social media and local student activists, Syria remains in turmoil despite the changing landscape of digital communications worldwide. In #chicagoGirl, we meet freedom fighters in the streets of Homs and Damascus along with the stateside collection of exiles working to return Syria to a stable and human rights-respecting country.
