Chief of Public Security, Major-General Tariq Al Hassan chaired on Wednesday the 30th meeting of the National Disaster Management Committee.The event started with revision of implemented recommendations of the previous meeting, after that the topics on the agenda were discussed. The Executive Director of the committee presented a report of the capabilities and readiness of Bahrain in dealing with radiation and chemical accidents, while Health Ministry Representative and Executive Director of Salmaniya Medical Complex, Dr Waleed Al Manea presented a report on Ebola as he asserted that Bahrain and other GCC countries are free from the virus that its spreading is still limited to West Africa.The members discussed health precaution measures for Bahraini pilgrims, in which Health Ministry representative asserted the readiness of the ministry in dealing with all cases and highlighted the awareness activities that were organized for all registered hajj caravans and members of Bahrain Hajj Mission.At the end of the meeting, the Chief highlighted importance of interaction between all ministries and major companies to hold training and exercises in dealing with natural accidents and disasters by holding a national drill by the end of the year. He asked the committee to set a framework to associate the governorates in facing disasters through cooperation and coordination with the General Coordination of Governorates.
