Chief’s Babble….on the radio show. Well, this is the 12th week for our radio show, “Breaking Good With Chief Oliver.” It is time for an assessment and a little reflection on the project. For those of you who are just joining us, or didn’t know this information….we have a talk show on “The Talk of Akron” WNIR 100.1 FM. The show airs every Saturday and Sunday from 7-10pm. Before we move ahead, I will offer that I know absolutely nothing about talk radio; however, I know a ton about talking, so it seems to be working. I have countered not having talent by being a talker. I am thrilled with the opportunity and the results so far. The live streaming, via the inter web, is “off the charts” according to those who keep track. We have had calls from Canada, Chicago, Texas, Tennessee, Massachusetts and all over Ohio. I have received countless emails telling me how people are tuning into radio and tuning off the TV. The ratings are high consistently and the phone lines are jammed for the bulk of the six hours per week we are on. Besides all of that, I am having a blast. I love taking the calls and talking to a variety of folks….including the intoxicated folks who call to say hello. Hey- at least they are at home and not driving. Tonight on the show I am sure we will discuss Ebola. We also have an update on the Ferguson incident. As usual, we will discuss whatever all of you want to talk about. We cover more topics in three hours than any show I have ever heard. Lastly, I must say thanks to all of you. A talk show just does not work unless the callers are present, engaging and worth listening to. All of you are amazing and without you…there is no “us.” Thank you for the support. Every week the phones are jammed and live streaming is tremendous. We have meaningful dialogue on important topics….and sometimes UFOs and Bigfoot.
