Chinas taking a strong step forward to compete as the worlds high energy physics research leader. Whomever is the science leader is most likely to be the technology leader, which drives their most likely to be the industrial leader as well. Remember, the Industrial Revolution was the highest tech of its time, and set up the drive for many countries economies well into the 20th century. Our space age helped drive us a little father.
