In this interactive workshop you’ll learn how Buddhist symbols, forms, rituals, and ceremonies add depth to your practice. Abbot JianYing Shifu will explain their history, meanings, and functions in the context of Buddhism today. The Abbot will talk about the basic setup of a Chinese Buddhist altar and explain the meanings and functions of the symbols and objects on it. He will also discuss the significance and elements of Buddhist rituals and ceremonies commonly practiced at the Zen Center, answer questions such as why and how specific steps and/or chants are performed and how rituals are related to your practice. The Abbot will take you on a virtual tour through the Zen Center to learn about the various Buddhist statues and artifacts. Please come and join us to share this precious opportunity together. Register early since we have limited space (50 participants) for the workshop. The workshop is designed so that you will have plenty of opportunities to ask the Abbot questions throughout the workshop. (Pictured by Charlene Tse)
