Chinese vaccines get passing grade Some #Chinese injections may be coming to a clinic near you! China’s national regulatory authority for #vaccines has passed a reassessment from the World Health Organization. The #WHO confirmed the safety of Chinese vaccines in Beijing in a move that opens the door for Chinese vaccines to be exported to other countries. The WHO has assessed more than 190 countries and regions. So far, only 36 have fully passed the assessment. China is the world’s largest vaccine producer. Forty-one vaccine companies are producing 61 kinds of vaccines against 33 kinds of infectious diseases. The WHO hopes that Chinese vaccines will benefit more children around the world. The news is welcome to Chinese medical authorities that, in recent years, have often battled with the problem of counterfeit medicine. In a sting last year, Chinese police nabbed 17 in connection to the production of counterfeit medicine. Provincial branches of the Food and Drug Administration in Guangxi, Hunan, Anhui and Henan seized more than 16,600 bottles of fake medicine and vaccines according to a statement by the Ministry of Public Security.
