Chris is an old friend of mine and long time police officer. He shared this video along with this comment. Like many I have been disturbed by abuse by a very SMALL number of L.E.O., but have always reiterated that I do not believe this is the norm among officers of the law. Heres an example of the risk every officer has to deal with every time s/he goes to work. Sadly, this incident had a tragic ending. CAUTION: This video may disturb you. It should. Police officers across the US are committed to providing courteous, professional service to all our residents and visitors. A vast majority of the time, we are dealing with people who mean harm to no one. Some may mean harm to another person, but not the police. But there are times when someone does mean harm to the police. We may not know it until they reveal their intentions. It is largely due to the uncertainty of evolving circumstances that officers are sometimes gruff and demanding. Bear this in mind before you accuse an officer of being on a power trip, or being a thug with a badge. Try to see things from his or her point of view before you decide. Please take into consideration how this person lied to put the officer at ease, and how very very quickly the situation turned deadly. I do not post this to garner praise or gratitude, but to promote an understanding of what our countrys officers potentially face on what appears to be a non-confrontational call.
