Christianity is full of symbolism which helps us to think on - TopicsExpress

Christianity is full of symbolism which helps us to think on spiritual things using earthly concepts. Here in Ephesians 6 it is no different. Strength, Power, Armor and Stand are the key concepts here, but modified by of God and His might. The spiritual warrior, then is one who is strong by the strength of The Great Spirit, that being God. The reason we must be strong spiritually is because there is another spiritual force which does not have our best interest at heart: Satan and his minions. But as spiritual recruits, we have not the power to fight against the dark spiritual veterans in the age-old war of good v. evil. Thankfully, God trains our hands to war and even gives us the strength we need to stand when we need it... as we call upon Him. Further, God does not call us into loneliness and singular battle. We have Him as well as our brothers in arms (spiritual veterans who have gone before) to lean upon even as physical warriors can lean upon their brothers and learn from those who are veterans. Yet too often we think we can do it on our own. Warriors in full combat do not last long outside of their platoons. Let us, then, lift each other up in prayer, encourage one another, and continue in fellowship as trusted brothers-in-arms, not as duelists, nor eager to find weakness in each other that we might devour one another. A troop divided against itself cannot stand.
