Cảm ơn mọi người đã giúp mình :) Đề bài: In some countries, an increasing number of people are suffering from health problems as a result of eating too much fast food. It is therefore necessary for governments to impose a higher tax on this kind of food. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion? Bài làm: Fast food has been scientifically proven to be a highly detrimental diet for human being, causing severe health problems such as obesity, diabetes and hypertension. In the today’s world, the widespread presence of it has caused many policymakers to consider some specific taxation schemes that may fundamentally reduce the consumption of this product. However, I am of the opinion that taxation may not be a powerful and effective solution for the following reasons. First, such a heightened tax on fast food may only place an onerous financial burden on the residents. Even with the new tax, the price of junk meals may be still far lower than that of an average well-cooked one. As can be said, this new levy policy may force those choosing the most economical dietary provision to pay more for their must-have meals. In brief, the general public may only switch to healthier sustenance when these nutritious alternatives are not only available but also cheaper. This would demand a not-yet-present markedly improved food industry, and thus may not be practically feasible at the moment. More importantly, even though the tax duty may lead to higher selling prices, it may not prevent this kind of food from being ‘fast’. In a world with such a busy lifestyle, there are extremely few customers willing to wait for fifteen minutes in their lunch time to be served with a properly healthy meal. Convenience, on the other hand, is perhaps the most significant decisive factor when the majority of the population choose what to eat in their daily lives. It is, therefore, possibly senseless to convey the idea that an increased level of tax on harmful precooked food may dramatically decrease the extent to which it is consumed. All in all, the introduction of an intensified tax on fast food may not be a realistic preventive measure, for consumers are likely to still favour it due to the ease of life and the pecuniary benefits it brings. It is therefore recommended that stricter food quality control in the fast food restaurants themselves must be enforced, in order that this immensely popular food is less deleterious for the citizens.
