Circuit Judge Leandra Johnson in Lake City, Florida granted my Stand Your Ground motion to dismiss a charge of second degree murder against my client Lavell Nicole George Friday, November 7, 2014. Co-counsel on the case were Richard Kuritz, Lewis Buzzell and Teri Sopp. Richard Kuritz was the lead attorney at the evidentiary hearing which lasted two days. I made the closing argument at the conclusion of the hearing. Lewis Buzzell did the prepatory depositions and with Teri Sopp helped prepare the client for her testimony at the hearing. Lewis also brought forensic psychologist Harry Krop into the case and Dr. Krop was an excellent witness on the clients battered spouse syndrome and PTSD. Teri Sopp brought Forensic Expert Michael Knox into the case, and he did a super reenactment of the shooting and explanation of the crime scene. The client was facing trial on a 25 year to life minimum mandatory charge. It was a team effort but special recognition is due to Richard Kuritz for an outstanding job at the hearing.
