City to again fete top athletes this year THE city government of Davao will once again honor the outstanding athletes from different disciplines this year through the Davao City Sports Recognition Award. The recognition ceremony will be held in December according to the William “Butch” Ramirez, officer-in-charge of the City Mayor’s Office-Sports Development Division (CMO-SDD). A selection board has been formed composed of representatives from the CMO-SDD, Department of Education Davao, Davao City Sports Council Inc. (DCSCI), Private Schools Athletic Association (Prisaa), Davao Association of Colleges and Schools (Dacs), Davao City Sports Consumer Cooperative (DCSCC), Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) and the Sports Communicators Organization of the Phils. (Scoop) Davao. “The coverage of the athletic achievements will be from August 2013 to August 2014 only to give us time to prepare for it,” said Ramirez, who was chosen as the chairman of the Board. The deadline for the submission of nominees is tentatively set on September 15 while the evaluation period will be from Sept. 16-30.
