Claiming SJK(C) as a medium to breed racists and anti-government - TopicsExpress

Claiming SJK(C) as a medium to breed racists and anti-government is pure naive. As a product of SJK(C), I must say it took me further ahead in many areas with the extra language but not racist nor anti-government. It widened my views towards better understanding of Malay and other races in different perspectives. However, this system surrogates and polarizes the young generation based on their races, ultimately promote unity to collapse. And this is the issue that should be addressed. At the same time, it is undeniable that religion-based school system in our country too poses the same problems. Even though the system educate the young ones better in understanding the religion, yet, it still polarizes them based on religion and race. Do not be double standard here. Never look at a system as something flawless, simply because its name has religion word in it. This is why I believe in “One type of school for all with equal rights” as the solution to remove the shackles from achieving our national aspiration – the restoration of the unity among Malaysians. We should uphold the idea of National school by improving its content and quality. Give and take is the crucial process that we have to go through to live up to the aspiration. It is necessary to understand the pros and cons of this vernacular system and the religion-based school system holistically. No double standard. And we have to understand that this is not the only way to bring us towards the unity. Indeed, there are many other critical actions that we should and shouldnt do, speak and listen. Abolishing the vernacular schools without addressing the root cause in an unbiased discussion is simply premature and counter-productive.
