Clubhouse grill chronicles (rant): Day 1: Ive entered what seems to be a human watering hole or social gathering. A woman who seems to be a hostess has gazed at me breifly as she tends to other matters. After about 5 minutes of awkward standing, she leads me to a table facing a large screen. I think Im safe here. After about 12 minutes I am offered beverages. Theyll be right out! Spoken in the native tongue. Ive recently decifered and translated this native language to mean, welcome to our community. You will be here a while. Day 2: a kind woman notices that we are in need of sustainence and offers us food. Fearing a possible backlash, we accept their offering and request a local dish known as, potato skins, salad, a french dip and a burger. We wait. Day 3: no sign of the kind food lady. We are growing thirsty. Morale is low. Day 4: the locals are pacing past us in a frenzy. Tending to other matters, I assume. Day 5: the natives around us are growing restless. Hungry. Tired. Day 6: morale has sunken to an all time low. We are growing hungry and the crew is angry. We are turning against eachother. Day 7: a man that appears to be the cheif has come baring an apologetic tone. He seems to be assuring us that we will be getting food that we desperately need. Day 8: HOORAY! Food! Our potato skins have arived. They taste as though they are fresh out of the microwave. Day 9: my crew has received a french dip along with another apology from the cheif. I await my burger still. I have received my burger. It tastes as though I am eating overcooked ground beef topped with something that resembles a poorly executed aioli. But it will have to do. 9 1/2: I have shot a flair into the air. Ive grown bold and asked for the salad I ordered. It is supposed to arrive soon. Day 10: Ive received my salad. It seems as though its been assembled days before. As it is wilted and the vegetables are soft and dry. Day 11: we have managed to flag down a member of the tribe so that we may exchange currency for the sustainence her tribe has given us. Day 11 1/2: weve escaped. We finally made it. Into the mothership and back to the base. We made it. Will we return? Maybe when the tribe has had time to organize a little better.
