Coach Hoff asked for this to be posted to his Facebook page: I would like to thank all of you who encouraged me to run for the Mattawan School Board. It was humbling to think that people believed that I could make a positive impact in helping to lead the district in a different direction. At this time, I have chosen not to follow that calling. I have an intense loyalty to my family, marveling at the growth of my new granddaughter and at the wonderful job that my daughter Katie is doing in rearing little Roslyn; following my son Thomas in his college academic and athletic exploits; and watching as my wife adjusts to her new life of retirement from teaching. I also feel intense loyalty to Coach Hawkins and the WMU Broncos Basketball Team. My duties to the team are many and important, and I could not justify compromising my effectiveness by investing time in a Board position. There are some intriguing write-in candidates running for the four school board positions, and I encourage Mattawan voters to do what they can to inform themselves of these write-in candidates stances and qualifications.
