Coaching AAU basketball is such a learning experience for me. I coached under 2 good college coaches won 20 plus games each year help develop players and even helped a few reach the NBA still train a few NBA players each summer. The head coach of our AAU team played in the NBA was a great high and college player. The other assistants with us were good players also but for some reason the 10th graders we coach dont trust what we are teaching them. They are good here in area on there teams but cant seem to play with other good players or against. We are trying to show them how to be successful against top players while also trying to prepare them for college but they dont trust what we are showing them,. Maybe this generation is too selfish to learn. We win people are unhappy. The way I learned to play was to earn your minutes make the coach play you. I never had someone to speak to a coach and ask why i didnt start or play as much as someone else. This is whats wrong with BASKETBALL IN THE DMV.
