Coastal Waters Wind Warning For Gladstone to Point Danger, including Moreton Bay. Issued at 4:35 am EST on Monday 1 July 2013 Synoptic Situation A slow moving high [1033 hPa] over South Australia extends a ridge across western Queensland. A surface trough lies off the southern Queensland coast, with a low [1010 hPa] embedded on the trough approximately 130 nautical miles east of Fraser Island. The low is expected to deepen and move slowly southwards over the next 24 hours whilst remaining off the southern Queensland coast, with increasing winds and seas expected. Gale Warning Double Island Point to Point Danger Southeast to southwesterly winds 25 to 33 knots. Seas to 3 metres. East to southeasterly swell 1.5 to 2 metres. Expect southeast to southwesterly winds to increase to 35 to 40 knots by late morning. Seas increasing to 4 metres. East to southeasterly swell 2 to 2.5 metres. Strong Wind Warning Gladstone to Burnett Heads South to southwesterly winds 25 to 30 knots over offshore waters. Seas to 3 metres. South to southeasterly swell 1.5 to 2 metres. Strong Wind Warning Sandy Cape to Double Island Point South to southwesterly winds 25 to 33 knots. Seas to 3 metres. East to southeasterly swell 1.5 to 2 metres. Strong Wind Warning Moreton Bay Waters Expect southeast to southwesterly winds to increase to 25 to 30 knots late morning. Seas increasing to 1.5 metres. Easterly swell 1.5 metres near the northern Moreton Bay entrance. The next warning will be issued by 11 am AEST. Please be aware Wind gusts can be a further 40 percent stronger than the averages given here, and maximum waves may be up to twice the height.
