Cognitive Dissonance - In psychology, cognitive dissonance is the mental stress or discomfort experienced by an individual who holds two or more contradictory beliefs, ideas, or values at the same time, or is confronted by new information that conflicts with existing beliefs, ideas, or values. (Reason I am posting this is because I seriously think people need to evaluate this term. I see so many who are suffering with this who do not want to face many of the injustices that are happening in the world today, so they either dismiss it and go about their day or they deny it entirely because mentally they cannot handle the truth because it is so overwhelming for them to register in their minds. Also, I see this happen when peoples views are questioned when it comes to 9/11 or religion for example. People will just dismiss the evidence entirely and call it a conspiracy theory when their views are challenged. I just find it really sad and if we are to evolve as a species then more people need to quit turning the other cheek and face the damn truth.)
