Cold enough for you? Chilling out this Saturday morning? There is - TopicsExpress

Cold enough for you? Chilling out this Saturday morning? There is something incongruous about a sunny day with bone chilling temperature readings. Likewise, as one observer once said to me, Theres something curious about Christians who should be warmed by the Good News but appear rather cold and insular in daily living. Curious indeed. There will be plenty of Good News at St. Matthews tomorrow, Annual Meeting Day, when I offer The Rectors report on our mission over the last year during sermon time at the 8 and 10am worship services. Rather than cold and insular our ministries reached out faithfully with warmth and welcome over the past year and will continue to do so in the foreseeable future. Gods power and spirit have sparked our ability to rise to many occasions as persons and as a parish. How does one account for such grace in our midst, available to you this day and to St. Matts in the days ahead? I suggest we rely on 15th century Thomas a Kempis to help frame a response. He said, It is better to practice Agape (Christ - like love) than to know how to define it. Consider this Saturday a day to practice. Itll warm all things considerably. - Rev. Wm. E. Exner
