I love the account of Christ commissioning the Twelve and sending - TopicsExpress

I love the account of Christ commissioning the Twelve and sending them on a mission. This mission trip teaches us and them self-denial and total dependency on. God. It also tells us the 12, which means Judas was given the same power the others were and yet missed who Jesus really was. Christianity involves giving of self to others. It demands a selfless service regardless of the consequences. We must lose our lives to find them. Paul told us: Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others (Philippians 2:4). And, again: Bear one anothers burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2). In helping others, we help ourselves. MARK 6:7-13 HCSB He summoned the Twelve and began to send them out in pairs and gave them authority over unclean spirits. He instructed them to take nothing for the road except a walking stick: no bread, no traveling bag, no money in their belts. They were to wear sandals, but not put on an extra shirt. Then He said to them, “Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that place. If any place does not welcome you and people refuse to listen to you, when you leave there, shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.” So they went out and preached that people should repent. And they were driving out many demons, anointing many sick people with olive oil, and healing them.
