Comfortable © George Holder After the Lord has done this for you, don’t say in your hearts, ‘The Lord has given us this land because we are such good people!’ No, it is because of the wickedness of the other nations that he is pushing them out of your way. Deuteronomy 9:4 When I look at my nation the United States today, I stand in amazement at the wickedness that abounds through out our land. Don’t think that just because I write this article that I am a perfect man either. Look at how The Holy Bible in describes in the end times: “But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days, People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient of their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God- having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.” [2 Timothy 3:1-4] NIV. Now doesn’t that sound like the headlines in any major newspaper in America? Now if God drove others out of the land that we now occupy because of their wickedness, what would he do about us when our evil ways far exceed anything those who were here ahead of us? We as a people seem to think that we somehow “deserve” the better things in life. We are not satisfied with just a good workable car, but no we continually purchase something just a little better, a little larger, after all don’t we deserve it? We are daily hammered and beaten with advertising on television to not be satisfied with what we have or even what our parents had. If we cannot “afford it” the with cash in hand the sellers always make it all too easy to simply use your credit card in you billfold or purse and you become a slave to the master of debt. Did I say debt? Other nations and our enemies literally “own” us several times over. The debt of our nation is so overwhelming that the human mind cannot fathom the size of it. Under our President Obama, at the time of our last government shutdown in October 2013 our debt was in excess of $17 trillion dollars. Our children and our children’s children will be crushed under that heavy load. Did I mention evil? Well the Holy Joe is not necessarily welcome in the workforce, and competition for work can become fierce. Have you noticed of how crime series are becoming quite rampant on television? The Lord only knows how many killings, murders, rapes, and muggings are displayed graphically each day on television. There was a time in which a person had to go to the wrong end of town to seek evil, but now evil seeks us. We have slowly but surely become numb to what at one time shocked us. Now we easily justify our actions rather than become accountable. In a movie we easily fluff the movie as being good to see by saying well it only had one brief bad scene or word in the presentation. The purpose in a gold standard is to have a accurate measure to which something is compared to determine if what we have is the genuine article or not. The gold standard for me is the Word of God. When measured against that, I find that my nation and myself have failed miserably. We were given a wonderful and beautiful land to call our home, but we have in every way become a wicked and evil people. Is it in the “right” of God to push us out of this land because of our wickedness? Of course it is! Is there a solution to our problem with God? Yes there is. 2 Chronicles 7: 14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
