Coming up at Middlesbrough Town Hall this week.... Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra Tuesday 2nd December at 7.45 pm Conductor - Michael Tabachnik Soloist - Sasha Sitkovetsky, Violin Borodin - Polovtsian Dances Sibelius - Violin Concerto Saint Saens - Symphony No. 3 For the last two years the Brussels Philharmonic have made a number of highly successful visits to London and have shown themselves to be one of the most exciting orchestras to emerge from Europe for some time. We are delighted therefore that they are coming to Middlesbrough to perform for us in a programme that opens with Borodins highly theatrical Polovtsian Dances. This will be followed by the brilliant young Russian Violinist Alexander Sitlovetskys performance of Sibelius etheral Violin Concerto. In the second half we will have the rare opportunity to hear the grand and opulent Symphony No. 3 by Saint Saens, known as the Organ Symphony because of its use of the organ as a central element of the symphony. Lucy Walker, Piano Lucy is 16 years old and has been studying piano with David Murray since the age of eight. She has achieved success in several music festivals and most recently was among the final 30 pianists for the BBC Young Musician of the Year 2014. In addition to performing as a soloist, Lucy enjoys playing chamber and orchestral music. She has performed a number of piano concertos with local orchestras and participated in master classes hosted by Murray McLachlan, Martin Roscoe and Vanessa Latarche. In recent years she has played as principal clarinet in the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain and she is currently principal clarinet with Young Sinfonia.
