Comment and/Stories from people- Part 3 *** I have heard bits and pieces about the guidelines (ie no dogs adopted to hunters, no animals adopted to people with an unaltered animal etc.) But I dont know how accurate the information is. Are we sure written guidelines actually exist? According to one of the letters in the Baraboo News Republic, only **** ******* is allowed to approve or deny adoptions and it seems a bit like she makes it up as she goes. For instance, she denied an adoption to a lady whose first language is not English because she claimed the language barrier prevented her from adequately couseling the woman on how to care for the dog. It wasnt the womans first dog and her friends had come along to help with the language barrier. Love for an animal has no spoken language. Its a feeling. There can be no language barrier. ***I am not allowed to adopt because my dogs and cats are raised holistically. Which means they are fed raw food or holistic kibble and I do not vaccinate, except for rabies and I do not use frontline or heartguard. I adopted an outdoor barn cat from Adams with no questions asked. ***They can say anything they want and none of it is substantiated. What it IS is a smoke screen to draw attention away from the fact that SCHS killed over half the animals who came through their doors. Period. I dont care what **** ******* claims to have done to improve the shelter. I dont care who she hired and what he told her. The fact is that no one at SCHS is providing any information that would explain a euthanasia rate of 58%. If they shipped some animals to Dane County Humane Society and others to reputable animal welfare groups, why did they feel the need to kill over 1200 animals last year? If sick animals are receiving prompt veterinary care why such a high euthanasia rate? They are skirting the issue at hand. I wont be distracted. I want to know why they killed Missy and Mo (see other post by Friends of Sauk County Animals). So they take a cat outside and, when it panicked and scratches someone, they kill it. Why???? THAT is what I want answers to and until I get it, none of the other crap they throw out to the public matters. NOTHING they or their supporters have said can justify a 58% euthanasia rate. Period. ***If you have nothing to hide you hide nothing! The ONLY reason that I can possibly think of that a few people are giving kudos to SCHS director is because she works for Free! Saves money for the budget but anyone with a heart wouldnt want her with this EXTREMELY HIGH KILL RATE! She sure as heck isnt gaining any revenue by killing these animals and turning people away, her fundraisers, car washes, calendars etc., may bring in some revenue but its not used to save the animals, when stats show 58% euthanasia....Very sad that nobody has the guts and conscience to stand up for these animals! By the way it should be called Sauk County Euthanasia Clinic or Sauk County INHUMANE shelter! · *** I think the public deserves some HONEST answers to these questions. It doesnt matter how many experts they have come on board, if they are euthanizing 58% of the animals taken in -- then WHATEVER they are doing is NOT working.... My heart broke when I read Missy and Mos story. Something like this should NEVER happen to any animal when part of a shelters job is to protect... Id also like to know why there was ANY need to take these cats outside in the first place? Do they not have litterboxes inside the shelter?? It is VERY common for MANY cats to become nervous and upset when outside....especially if they have never been. It makes me wonder if these people have a clue......about anything..... · *** I wonder why the shelter was in such dyer need of revamping. I wonder what the kill rate was under Nancys presidency. The sooner that the high kill rate is looked into and explain, the sooner this will go away. I do not know who is responsible for it. I now wonder what the kill rates were prior to this. I have yet to see how the 100,000 grant was used. It was supposed to offfset the cost of spaying and neutering animals that had owners and this was only 1 1/2 years ago. Wouldnt one have an accounting of how those funds were used? It sounds like a bunch of people who are working there know next to nothing about animals. Is that because the people that did got fired or the volunteers that had the knowledge were let go or did they leave because they could not stand to see all of the animals be put do *** I would still like an answer to why the kill rate is off the charts compared to the other shelters
